I think it's Intamin's answer to Vekoma's Cosmic Rewind model meets RCT3 drift coaster? I though this would have a controlled drift/rotation compared to Mack's model, but I could be wrong!

Yes, it's a controlled rotation. This is to ensure the cars are facing away from the nearby residential areas as much as possible.
