Yes-- it'll get reverse boosted up the cliff dive and then back down to go up and over.Looks incredible.
If it rolls back does it do a TT2 swing launch?
Yep, that's shown at the 2:11 mark here:If it rolls back does it do a TT2 swing launch?
Yes, it has trims over the cliff drop (to create that (literal) cliffhanger effect), then it launches downhill to hit 155mph and claim the speed record, then it immediately needs to trim off some of that speed. Same idea as Formula Rossa, it doesn't NEED to go that fast.So they slow it down before the drop down the cliff, then speed it up at the bottom of the drop, then slow it down again at the top of the big bunny hill?
Quite a bit of manipulation going on with the natural pace of the ride.
Doesn't look like it's going more than 80 mph through the circuit around the border of the park, and with the long drawn out elements, will probably be most similar to Millenium Force pacing than anything.
The hill is insane, but I always assumed that the drop off the cliff was significantly taller. I find it hard to judge these heights from the pictures and videos.Surely it's going to need a fair bit of the 155mph to clear the 519ft hill? Formula Rossa's problem is that it's all less than 200ft tall, right?
I had always assumed the trims were on the downhill section of the hill, so the rest of the layout is more manageable. But then again, I've never really studied the POVs that closely.
Yep, there's quite a few as it rises up into the big hill.Wait, where are the trims? Right after the launch? Really?
Nope, as far as I can tell, there are none on the downhill side of the big hill, and the rest of the layout is free-coasting off a 500+ft drop (until the hill that travels over the park entrance path, at the very end of the ride).I had always assumed the trims were on the downhill section of the hill, so the rest of the layout is more manageable.
I could be misremembering, but I believe the cliff is like 603ft and the hill is like 535ft. Or at least in that ballpark. On a normal sized coaster, that ~70ft height difference would be more than enough for the train to make it over the next hill. The scale of this ride is just so foreign that I suspect it does need some extra speed, but not all 155mph of it, hence the trims. The hill is insane, but I always assumed that the drop off the cliff was significantly taller.
That's crazy. So Formula Rossa is crazy fastYeah, for reference, a 603ft drop would 'only ' lead to a top speed of 134mph, assuming no resistances.
Well the cat in question is dead now anyway so I got away scot free yayThat poor cat.
