Dive Coaster floorless tag

Hey all,

I just rode Iron Menace at Dorney today. When I went to put it in my spreadsheet I was assuming I would be marking it as a steel, sit down, and floorless as I have done that with the other two B&M Dive coasters I have been on (Griffon and Sheikra). Upon looking at it on RCDB, Iron Menace isn’t tagged as floorless. I was wondering why some dive coasters are considered floorless and others aren’t. I understand the original 2 because they actually have a floor but what is it about Draken, Yukon Striker, Iron Menace, Dr. Diabolical, and Wrath of Rakshasa that would make them be considered not floorless? Is it a rcdb thing or is there an actual coaster design reason I’m not understanding? Thanks!

Just checked some photos of Wrath of Rakshasa and Valravn. Wrath has a floor that spans the entire width of the track, which extends wide enough to cover the wheel bogies. The outer two seats on either side are only floorless because they extend beyond the track , but there aren’t really any seats riding directly above the track with no floor. This probably simplifies the retractable floor mechanism in the station. It’s not a complete floor like you find on Oblivion, but it is more substantial than what you find on some other dive coasters.

In contrast, Valravn truly is floorless. The only seats with anything directly below the riders feet are the central two seats of each row. This is just a very small “floor” to cover the bumpers of the front car, and the couplers of cars 2 and 3. There are several seats in each row directly above the rails with nothing under the rider’s feet.

Sorry, but I don't see any floor there, except for the middle 2 seats. The "floor" you see, is the mounting base for the sears. It also included the wheels for the storage track.
Or are you talking about the covers in row 1 and 2? As far as I see, Valraven has the same cover.

This floor, which is as wide as the track, including in the front row.

Edit: Valravn does have similar covers, but they don’t extend out past the hardware beneath them and the rails are left exposed below the riders. This could potentially explain why rcdb classifies the rides differently.

Edit to the edit: Just checked some video because it was bugging me and I wanted to make sure I was remembering correctly. The Rakshasa station only has a retractable floor in front of the first row. Having the covers extended out over the rails eliminates the need for retractable floors in rows 2 and 3. Other “floorless” dives like Valravn have retractable floors in all rows of the station.
