I'd rather see Rita get removed from Towers outright than have Zamperla do a ThunderVolt on it. In my books, Rita's gut punch hydraulic launch is what makes it unique enough to keep around - if you remove that for a standard LSM launch, you just end up with a really middling standard LSM...
This is, to me, the most surprising part of this news: the Disney park appears to have significant outdoor portions.
When I was in Qatar last week, temperatures were maxing out around 42°C and didn't drop below 30°C at night. Just being outside was uncomfortably sweaty, and walking in the...
^ I vehemently disagree, but I think that is the point of this thread...
I can get why someone might prefer Galactica over Flynosaur, as Flynosaur is exceptionally intense and maybe slightly nauseating. But why Steel Dragon over Hakugei? I was not immensely impressed by the former.
This could either be a poorly-shaped, poorly-paced disaster or the next in a sequence of worryingly competent Jinma installations. Either way, I'm interested.
Looks slow surprisingly fun, but I share Hutch's concerns about a lack of airtime moments. Does look like a perfect fit for the park though, and I'll definitely be stopping by if I'm in the area.
Epilogue: a new beginning
My last meal in China was sadly a disappointing one – Changsha airport doesn’t exactly have great facilities on the international travel side. Luckily, this time my flight was running as planned, and I would soon be back in England with minimal stress.
For coasters...
Day 13: Window of the World Changsha
After a fantastic, albeit long, day at Fantawild, I was ready to take my final 24 hours in China a little more chill. The weather was looking uninspiring, so a bit of investigative journalism closer to home sounded appealing.
Window of the World Changsha...
Day 12: Fantawild Zhuzhou
Added a bit more structure here than usual as this was a dense day of theme parking.
Intro
Whilst Changsha itself doesn’t have the most going on, it seems to have an above average theme park scene for a city of its scale. Notably, this includes two Fantawild Resorts...
Day 11: Changsha
On Day 11, I was mostly recovered from my food poisoning but had replanned the day to take things a little more gently than first scheduled. Soon enough I was making my way back to Changsha for the last leg of the trip.
I don’t think I quite “got” Changsha. The city is...
Days 7-10: Zhangjiajie
It was time to bid farewell to Wuhan and head back into Hunan province for the penultimate destination of the trip. The next leg of my journey would take the better part of a day travelling, involving two trains, some metros, and a taxi ride to wrap it all up...
Day 6: Wuhan Zhongshan Park
My third day in Wuhan was intended to be a little more leisurely, ticking off a couple of key tourist sights and (hopefully) finding some tasty food.
Amongst these was Yellow Crane Tower. This Wuhan icon provides fantastic views across the Yangtze, although the...
Day 5: Happy Valley Wuhan
During my previous visit to China, I visited my first ever Happy Valley amusement park in Beijing. I had left feeling very much unhappy. This was mostly due to the catastrophic ride availability – two of three top coasters were down all day, and the remaining...
Day 4: Wushang Dream Park
On the morning of my departure from Nanchang, I took a quick zip around the perimeter road of Sunac Land on an Alipay rental e-Moped to grab some photos. I didn't run into these again for the rest of the trip, which was a bit of a shame as I found it a great novelty...
Day 2/3: Nanchang Sunac Land
After the morning’s SIM card psychodrama, the journey from Changsha South to Nanchang West was mercifully easy due to the ever-fantastic Chinese HSR. I’d come to the capital of Jiangxi more or less exclusively to try one of the legendary Chinese wooden coasters...
Intro: OK, But This Is The Last Time
The story of this trip begins in August 2024, during my heady period of freedom between finishing my degree and starting full time work. In advance of my first ever trip to China the following month, I had come into Manchester to collect my passport from the...
Really interesting question posed in this thread.
I think we should preface any thinking about Universal as a threat to the existing UK theme park scene by noting that Universal GB, in all likelihood, will net grow UK theme park attendance. It's likely that the iconic IPs and international...
I think it might just barely be possible to get one or more of the smaller coasters open for the park's mid-2025 launch, but I give 0% odds on the Ghostrider being ready for that time. Will they try to open it in late 2025, or wait until 2026, I wonder? Interested to see how the park handles an...
Whilst I do worry about how the pacing on this will turn out, being a more Eurofighter-esque layout, it looks absolutely gorgeous - very excited to see it finished!
Part 4 - Flamingo Land (October 2024)
I haven’t visited a lot of UK parks. This is true to such an extent that from 2022 to 2024 I had more credits in Germany than my home country. Flamingo Land offered an enticing +10 credits a mere 2 hours drive away, so I booked onto the ECC’s October event...
My top is 27 laps on Na Fianna Force at Emerald Park - no ERT or Fastrack required, just chill staff members who were OK with me filling spare seats when the train came back not entirely full.
Honourable mention to the ERT I had with TTSP back in 2019 on Nemesis Inferno - 17 rides in 1 hour as...
