I think many people around here make the incorrect assumption that the majority of people who take part in TPR trips actually vote in the poll. I've actually found that most people who do the trips either don't care enough about the poll to vote or are too lazy to vote in it.
Take TPR's 2008...
I think for the most part the opinions were pretty similar to you guys. The group opinions were quite mixed on the TPR trip as seems to be the case for CF. Some people loved the B&M others thought meh. The Intamin spinner at Bakken I absolutely hated whereas Lou loved it. There were quite a...
I’ve been on nine of those fourteen. That’s one more than my girlfriend has done, which is all that really matters. (To me, she couldn’t give a **** I’m sure!)
Troy Netherlands 10
Not my favourite GCI but it’s in my top ten. A real kickass coaster and one of the best woodies in Europe...
That's a bit of a misguided view of why people do TPR trips. It actually appears that the majority of TPR trip goers do it for the fun of it and don't really care that much about the poll. Out of 70 people doing the Europe trip in 2008 only 9 of them took part in this years poll (I actually...
For what its worth, I was told that Vekoma put together an offer of a mine train for this project but Alton Towers decided to go with another manufacturer.
Maybe we're just clutching at straws hoping it will be a ML but I'm fairly confident this won't be a Vekoma.
One of the big investors in the Sentosa resort also has a financial interest in Vekoma. Don't be surprised if this is an SLC with four seats across dueling with a sit down train in the same fashion.
From what I've heard and seen about this ride it will be very impressive looking at least.
I still have reservations about how an SLC with four seats in a row will ride but with the new restraints and new technology being used I'm very intrigued to ride.
Yeah furie, the GCI woodies have a 1.2m height limit. I know through a source that they were looking at a ride with a 1.1m height requirement but ultimately Alton decided not to go with that one. I have no idea what it will be but the height requirement might be very important.
That said...
I heard it was coming down recently. Apparently Alton are looking for a unique family ride to replace it.
I wouldn't be getting hopes up for another Nemesis-type thrill machine. Maybe a GCI woodie wouldn't be too much to ask though?
The TPR group had a very broad range of coaster experience. Sure there were a few who loved Mamba but for the most part everyone was kinda saying "why bother with Mamba when Winjas is here?".
But don't get me wrong. I did really like Black Mamba. It looks beautiful as does the rest of...
In the case of Balder I'm pretty sure it was due to when each group rode but with Black Mamba we rode on June 30th so the experience shouldn't have been that different.
Only thing I can think is that CF had rain whereas we didn't.
Group psychology maybe goes a long way towards it. For...
I'm amazed at the difference opinion on Mamba between the people on this trip and the trip with TPR I was just on. With TPR people generally thought Black Mamba was really tame and really just a front seat ride.
For me my rides in any row but the front were very comparable to Nemesis...
Whoa, totally forgot to check this thread again after posting my list. Joey you can indeed have Tibidabo, Holiday World, SFKK and Valleyfair.
In return can I go for Dorney Park, Tusenfryd, Disney-MGM Studios (the one on the second row) and Tivoli World?
Ben - be sure to pick up plenty of...
OK, here's my doubles:
Just in case you can't make them out I'll quickly list them:
Six Flags Poster Maps:
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
Six Flags Great America
(will only trade these for other poster maps I don't have. I currently have SFKK, SFGAm, SF GAdv &SFNE))
Park Maps...
Joey, which Six Flags park is it at the end of the second row?
And what is the BGE thing on the bottom left? It's not a map is it? The only maps I managed to pick up when I was there were the big flat paper ones.
I'm interested in a couple. I'll sort through everything I picked up in...
I agree with Ian on Bowser in SM64. Just sheer greatness to pick him up by the tail and swing him around.
Of course even Bowser pales in comparison with Gruntilda of Banjo-Kazooie fame!
I never said Raptor was perfect and so sure it does have its dead spots but for Alpengeist became one big dead spot after the drop.
If you haven't been on it yourself you really can't jump to conclusions like that. I did before I went to BGE and was sorely disappointed.
It's horses for...
If you haven't ridden Nemesis or Alpengeist then how can you criticise my opinion?
I rode Raptor and Alpengeist within about a week of each other and I wholeheartedly can say that I preferred Raptor. Why do I keep having to defend this opinion? I found Raptor forceful and enjoyable, I...
