I think it's the first one I've come across that wasn't open, but I've seen surprisingly few of them so far (3 or 4? Maybe 5 including this one?).
Believe me, the patience is wearing very thin. I was almost not enjoying it. Obviously it's all a load of crap, but I've quite enjoyed doing these...
It was easy in terms of just jumping in and out of Didis (Chinese Uber), but yes, ultimately quite tiring. I think at the stage now where I'd be unlikely to do another weekend like this. As an add on to a proper park, sure, but another weekend of s**te won't be on the cards for a while. This was...
I almost went yesterday, but luckily checked the calendar first before taking the 2-hour+ journey from Seoul since it's only open at weekends. All other Korean parks are open every day of the week, year-round. F**kin' Merlin.
I completely lied in the last part of this report. I actually went to another park at some point between the others.
Nanhai Wetland Park
Amazing.
The Guangzhou day was mostly spent revisiting places from years ago which had new/replaced stuff.
Liuhua Lake
The new (for me) coaster was...
It's this thing, which is hard to make out from the picture. They're deer on some continuous loop that carry people partway up the hill. It seems they then transfer to some kind of conveyer belt to get the rest of the way.
To be fair, it may have been open a month ago. It wasn't fenced off or anything, but the dead leaves in the queue line and the station certainly weren't new.
I'm not sure. Most of them had the word "slide" in the translated name, but I didn't pay too much attention.
Another day of this...
Who’s ready to read up on some shameless cred whoring of extremely unremarkable kiddy clones in craphole Chinese parks?
You are!
I had Friday off work last week, so wanted to do something with the long weekend. I also, stupidly, had tickets for the ballet on the Sunday night because I’m classy...
Yeah, wtf is that splash thing? I haven't kept up to date with this at all, but I thought it was supposed to be more like the Mack things? Is that why it's taken so long to get it finished? Having to change the splashdown to that ugly little trough and a wet fart of a fountain?
Looks s**te!
Yeah, Sydney is fab. I'm not there now, but I did that bridge pylon thing last time I was there. I'd forgotten about it to be honest. Otherwise, I might've headed up again.
Happy Valley are incredibly frustrating. I haven't actually been to one for ages. One of the most frustrating things is that they're actually one of the better chains in terms of keeping things freshened up and adding new attractions. The others just open parks and let them gradually...
I just dug out an old trip report, but the photo links are long dead. I'll shove the report here anyway and try to dig out some old pictures later.
Old Siam Park Report
Wow, that place seems to have really gone to s**t. It's been a long time since I was last there (soon after the powered coaster opened), but most things were running.
Do they still have the "Jurassic Park" style jeep ride? The "Africa" boat ride? The huge dinosaur walkthrough?
Top Thrill 2 I guess, even though I've done the original. The only other one I haven't done is Shellraiser, but it's Takabisha with one extra degree on the drop, so, let's face it, it's basically a clone.
It's obviously too late now, but for the benefit of anyone else reading this, just don't get a sim card when you arrive in China, regardless of the city. There may be exceptions in bigger cities with more tourists, but generally they're a massive faff to register and anything Google will be...
The end of the trip was in Sydney. As mentioned earlier, I’d been before, but it was ages ago, I like the place, and there were some new creds at Luna Park to boot. I got a bus in from Canberra, arriving close to midday and with the BF flying in from Hong Kong at roughly the same time.
That...
Unless Universal start shoving 2-for-1 coupons on crisp packets, I don't think they'll make a massive dent in visitor numbers for the other parks.
It's bound to be priced very differently.
