Re: LocaJoy Holiday | Unknown | Intamin 10 inversion
That does look terrible, surely if they're going to cover it they'll have to build a wall from the road up to height of the footers? I have a feeling they may just leave it unfortunately.
Although, if they're going to leave it like this...
I always thought most people didn't count dueling coasters as two?? Oh well, I often don't do both halves anyway. I count Halfpipes and Superman Escape from Krypton, but as everyone says I drawn the line at Disc-Os and alpines. I'd probably not count Butterflies either if I'd been on one.
Great topic. Both 'artists' are irritating, they're effectively just actors payed lots to take on the role of these 'musicians', placed into the charts by their wealthy bosses, but they're no more musician than any regular actor in a musical (and obviously not as skilled), they don't write songs...
I'd say wood. The problem's not the variation, it's how good the variation is. With inverts you have the amazing B&Ms, but then bizarre Intamins and terrible Vekomas. With hypers you have strong versions from Intamin, B&M and Arrow and interesting stuff from Morgan and Togo. With woodies I think...
I've only been on two (Shockwave and Riddler's) but I found it was just down to the ride. The thing with the restraints on a stand-up is that they're not very restrictive, so you're open to a lot of rattling. This was my problem on Riddler's, and though I expected to love it, I found it to be...
Any reason for thinking so? I just don't want to report it if it's not true, but I don't see why Duane would put it back up? Surely there'd be a reason?
So true, they were randomly selecting people to go through the metal detectors (no problems with that) but they were openly mocking people, it was just uncalled for.
I am fairly sure it has reopened and I have reported so:

It's back up on rcdb and I have seen a number of people instagram in the past few days saying how good it is. Of course I am not 100% sure.
I don't have much on the horizon, but hopefully I'll do Japan next Summer. I can see myself loving Thunder Dolphin (I haven't done an Intamin mega so I won't be able to compare it to the better ones), and I imagine Eejanaika (X2 is sick) and Dodonpa (launches are sick) will rank pretty highly as...
Pre 2004: I guess probably Big Thunder Mountain in Paris was the most fun ride I'd been on up til that point, in the Summer I went to Thorpe for the first time and loved it, I wasn't ranking, but Nemesis Inferno certainly was favourite.
2004: I got on Nemesis at the end of the year and I...

This is excellent, the wheel/pulley thing is a beaut too. Any reason you went so steep on the lift hill? Just space saving? Not that there's anything wrong with it. Would be good to see more of the second half of the layout as well.
I think a good stance is thinking about what your first reaction would be to hearing news of a new ride from either company. If I heard a park was building a B&M, I'd be thrilled. Whatever it's going to be, it'll be good. Sure it might be a slightly disappointing model or uninteresting layout...
One more that slipped my mind is Manhattan Express; you start off with Luxor, MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay and then in the second half you can see all the way down the strip.
^Perfectly said. One of the great things about the best water rides (Valhalla, Jurassic Park, Splash Mountain) are the scenic slow sections. On a water coaster there's too much haste, and the final drop doesn't have the anticipation (of course that's not the case for all of them). The only...
Maybe it's just because they're at home but my favourites are Heathrow Terminal 5 (The BA lounge is amazing) and Gatwick. Madrid is beautiful, but it's so spread out there's never much to do where you are. Barcelona is great too, best McDonald's I've been to.
Coca in Ecuador is the worst, it's...
Big One is very decent, I went on a really lovely day so that helped a lot. Everything on the Stratosphere is obviously excellent, but the best has to be X2; you can see everything in park from that angle.
