As an engineer (in a different industry) I would look at this as an isolated incident. Cracks are a relatively common occurance in this industry but we are talking hair line minor cracking on older pieces of hardware that is usually discovered with NDT methods before its even visible to the...
I knew about the mindbender incident and looked into it extensively a number of years ago. So to see another schwarzkopf ride fail, causing a fatality in the same way with the wheel assembly is concerning. And I didn't even know about the 2019 incident on another similar ride.
Something that...
I struggle with odyssey at fantasy island. Have rode this plenty of times in the past but something puts me off it now other than the inevitable pain factor. When I last rode it in 2012 the trains rattled and banged their way around the layout and felt very worn out, shunting from the car behind...
i305 is too intense for me, makes my eyes stream!
I do agree with those who mention the reverchon spinning coasters. The Maurer spinning are a lot easier on the laterals.
Also a mention for the Vekoma boomerangs - the backwards loop feels very intense going in
I had the pleasure of riding kumali brand new - it was a very pleasant ride, the Vekoma zero g roll is a pretty good effort and that first drop is quite forceful on the ground level banked turn. It is a shame the shenlin layout is a little short. I can’t speak for how it rides now. Probably as...
For me it’s thi13teen due to the massive hype involved. When news of the next secret weapon broke I remember being really excited about it and following it extensively. When the finished product was revealed I remember having a massive feeling of underwhelming. It is just a 40mph mine train ride...
Odyssey is top of the table for obvious reasons, no other SLC is remotely close in terms of height, drop, inversions and speed.
Most of that lends itself to the fact it’s custom and separates itself from the cluster of SLC clones.
It’s main obvious flaw is the roughness. And when you dissect...
Millennium coaster at fantasy island, which happened to be my first coaster credit age 8.
A 150ft lift hill and 100ft vertical loop, followed by sidewinder and another loop, is pretty good going despite the rest of the layout being that of a mine train more than anything else.
I have 2 creds in this flavour and both are poor. Certainly if I ridden all Intamin launch coasters I think i would put these at the bottom if this was a ‘worst’ poll.
But because this is a best poll I have to put my personal favourite of the two...
i can’t.
Rita , a modest 61mph launch is not...
That I’ve ridden it has to be dragon khan but it’s excused, certainly better than most 24 year old coasters. It’s not that rough it’s just noticeably ‘bumpier’ than most B&M rides. Even for B&M near perfect track profiling, 24 years of hard use is certain to fatigue the track somewhat.
Not particularily impressive, in order with the dates first rode
Nemesis (2003) B&M INVERTED
Oblivion (2003) B&M DIVE MACHINE
Dragon Khan (2006) B&M SIT DOWN
Air (2007) B&M FLYING
Shambhala (2014) B&M HYPER
